so, I'm not certain how many people know this but i thought I'd throw this out here:

wood is much better to burn than it apperars to be.
each log of wood had 0.5 Fuel value while coal has one so it doesn't look very good to start.
HOWEVER each log can be split into 2 planks, each of THOSE are worth 0.4 fuel.

this means that every small tree can be 0.8 fuel and each large tree can be 4.0 fuel.

its not soo useful in the late game, however it would be useful with the treefarm mod or in the early game if you have everything else but no coal.

In that case, the fuel value of planks should be reduced to 0.25

your choice, executive directive after all, however the only thing this affects is reducing the mad scramble for coal early game, because there is no way to auto harvest trees it becomes far too much effort to harvest and split all those trees.
so i think keeping it as is would be fine.

It could be explained by more efficient burning of cut wood than big logs or something.
The current value seems to be a lot, but I wouldn't mind a minor advantage, say, 0.32
