always wondered what others do, since i have played for a while now, i always load through the map editor to do some quality of life adjustments before starting.

Personally I only like using the map editor for very large or very small test or megabase saves. I like using other mods and the configurable settings better for general play.

Using the map editor disables achievements, unfortunately, which I learned when finally sitting down to earn "raining bullets" and "no solar" (or whatever). I love the challenge of maps with lots of water, so I either Google cool seeds or just play with settings until I find something I like.

I like to try and setup stuff in the map settings like high frequency and small deposits so I can make a lot of little basses and use a lot of trains

I don't think I've ever even opened the map editor.

I usually used the map editor to get a better overview of the neighbourhood... and often I added one of the resources that were lacking.

Never found a map to my taste by just using the default map settings... either the landscape wasn't my taste or some of the resources were not present or scarce.

But then again I may not be representative... because I know I am quite picky.

if you ever find yourself bored with the game after 17 releases, look into it.
its a lot harder to use right now, and 17 offers massive improvements to it.

yea i re gen the map over and over to find the "perfect" map....it takes forever. Maybe 30 minutes on the map editor may save some time. lol
