Buy direct, GoG, or Steam?

Post by Liralen »

My preference is in the order listed. I hate Steam so much.

I assume that the devs will get more if I buy direct instead of GoG, whom I like a lot.

But, I recently bought another game (Rising World) direct, but cannot get admin privileges while running a server without using my Steam ID, which I have, but it doesn't work, and nevertheless must update the server from Steam, which is a huge pain (mostly because I hate Steam, although there are GUI apps to avoid SteamCMD).

Is this also an issue with buying direct from Factorio?

Nope, you will also be able to redeem a free Steam key from us.

The membership on the website has all the same privilages as buying from anywhere else,
So playing MP, hosting servers, downloading mods etc. is all fine

Thanks much, I'll buy it directly from you then, since I assume you'll get more money that way.

The only advantage of steam for Factorio is that *if* you play multiplayer, by the next version of Factorio (Dec?) It will be much easier to host games if you are on Steam.

But if you are technically skilledor don't plan to host multiplayer games that is not very important.

Don't see how it can be "much" easier when it's dead easy already.

(I've heard some people have difficulties, for whatever reason though, to be fair.)
