Any way to filter liquids..? (+poll)

I'm using 0.15
Is there any way to make a one-way pipe section that only allows one specific kind of liquid through in an environment where the pipes periodically switch liquid types? I have been trying this with the circuit network and storage tanks for at least a hour and I haven't found a solution.

Just like in real life - you shouldn't mix different fluids in a pipe if you care about separating them.
What do you think happens, you can just go from sulphuric acid to petroleum without the two getting contaminated?
No, there's other stuff much more worth worrying about.

Tanks won't mix liquids so you could make a setup using the circuit network that maintains a small amount of liquid in the tank so that the tank will not allow liquids other then the original one placed in it to enter.

Other than it being an interesting puzzle; I don't see the purpose?
if you had say 3 storage tanks on the left and 3 on the right and one pipe in the middle, couldn't you use 3 pumps on the left to switch which was going into the pipe, and 3 on the right to pull from the pipe, with a delay circuit added when switching because it would take a little time to clear the fluid from the central trunk pipe?

If you want a barelling facility, and don't want 6 barelling facilities, you may want this kind of contraption.

how do you change the factory's production? Do you have some mod that is just 'barrel whatever liquid it gets' ?

No, you would essentially do the same thing as above; but instead of tanks and chem plants; you would just stick the one source pipe into separate barrelers. The barrelers won't take the wrong liquid iirc. Then you can just directly insert the full barrels into an unbarreler.

This is Factorio!!! A world where you can run arround with a locomotive in your pocket.
What do YOU think will happen if you get the two mixed together
in-game?

And how do you keep the liquid from flowing out of the tank exatly?
It is done better with pumps, because they are technically one way only tanks. ...with a capacity of 200 units, and the inability to read their content. I can wire them up to a tank in front of them and set them to only work when their "selected" liquid is in the tank.
The main problem is that the circuit network can't detect anything if there is less than a whole unit of liquid in the tank.

Barrel and unbarrel again, that way you can filter for one specific fluid.
