Smelters/Plastic need for full belt of blue circuits?

I'm working on my first "mega base". I am planning the layout for the later stages now. I've got pretty much all science researched and am ready to scale things up a notch or two.

Can someone give me an idea about how many electric smelters of copper, iron, etc., I need to fully saturate a blue belt of blue circuits? Just a quick estimate would be great.

Right now, I have 6 blue lines of iron, 6 copper, and 2 steel, fully compressed, and I'm only getting partially full belts of green, red, and blue circuits. I'm of course building lots of other things, like solar panels, ammo, etc., in parallel.

Does the typical "super big base" have something like 15 lines of iron? 20? 5 lines of plastic? I just would really appreciate a general idea as I plan out the land use of the base.

If not, I'll just incrementally scale things up and see how it goes.

Or put more simply. If I want a single blue belt of blue circuits, how much raw resource do I need behind the scenes to make that work? If no one has the answer, I'll post it after I run the numbers.

thank you.

~24 blue lines of iron ore + ~15 blue lines of copper ore is 0.5 RPM factory if you use prod3 modules everywhere. I highly recommend using distributed train base on that scale :)

you need roughly 3 belts of plastic and ~20 belts of both copper and iron for 1 full blue belt of processing units. Processing units are super expensive.

Awesome, thank you both.

For 40 Blue Chips a second assuming you have Production Mod 3 everywhere and a few speed beacons of course, you would need.
9.8 belts of Iron ore
11.6 belts of Copper ore
0.8 belts of Coal
Assuming you Prod mod your furnaces, all belts numbers are blue belts.

Below is a link to a good calculator it takes a little getting used to but it allows you to specify exactly how you are setting things up. The link is already configured with 40 blue chips a sec.

it s not updated for 0.15 but is a good estimate

for 1 blue belt of blue circuits you need 20 belts of green assuming no modals right? Then to adjust for modals do you divide by 1.4 or multiply by .6 I always get confused I am pretty sure it is divide by 1.4 but I cant prove it to my self.

What for is the need of a full blue belt of processing units ? That's 2400 units per minute and it's totally insane. For an example, a 1 rocket per minute production line consumes 1000 processing units per minute.

I highly recommend using Helmod for calculations like that.

Here you go
Image
4 lines of plastic, 24 lines of iron, 40 lines of copper.

And a truly horrible amount of assemblers.

As of electric furnaces, it depends on the layout.
Unmodified furnaces:

If you add production modules everywhere, you're gonna need a crap ton more space

It's cheaper in the long run, but the size of this monstrosity is ridiculous.

Unmodified setup:
Machinery alone will take 55872 tiles. That is 54.6 chunks.
Modified setup:
Machinery will take 38K tiles. That is 37.1 chunk.
