Help calculating materials for One Rocket

Post by trqwe »

I'm trying to calculate for myself the material needed for one rocket. I'm comparing my results to this post and also the wiki getting slightly different results, especially for oil-based products. Can someone help me understand why my results are different? Both lists assume full prod 3 modules.

Numbers with in green are the same as the the post I linked to. Numbers in red are different.
  • Radar 5
    Accumulator 100
    Solar panel 100
    Speed module 510.204081632653
    Battery 500

    Sulfur 759.354460296376
    Sulfuric Acid 9871.60798385288

    Solid fuel 5459.18367346939
    Plastic bar 7797.79258642233
    Processing unit 610.204081632653
    Advanced circuit 3422.74052478134
    Electronic circuit 17682.8508954602
    Copper cable 47671.0819896472
    Iron gear wheel 25
    Rocket fuel 764.285714285714
    Low density structure 814.285714285714
    Rocket control unit 714.285714285714
    Steel plate 6316.32653061225

    Iron plate 39770.8355557449
    Copper plate 20818.1650747955

    Rocket part 100
    Satellite 1
    Rocket 1

    Iron ore 33142.3629631207
    Copper ore 17348.4708956629
    Coal 2999.15099477782

    Crude oil Not Calculated
    Petroleum 68744.8021297453
    Light oil 41993.7205651491

    Heavy oil Not Calculated

So far example, back-calculating Sulfuric acid required:

Battery: 500 * 20 / (1.3)
Processing units: 610.2 * 5 / (1.4)

Total: 9871.593

This number is different, even accounting for the 10x liquid numbers in 0.15. But I don't see how I'm mistaken, given that the number of batteries and processing units are the same.

The difference is due chemical lab now has 3 module slots in v 0.15

so your stuff is correct, except the oil numbers cause solid fuel

The wiki is definitely outdated. I think you (or I) still have some things wrong even excepting the chemical plant module change. Here's what I'm calculating:

Raw materials needed:
- Petroleum gas (liquid): 60735/sec (3.6441e+06/min)
- Light oil (liquid): 41994/sec (2.5196e+06/min)
- Iron ore: 32089/sec (1.9253e+06/min)
- Water (liquid): 23949/sec (1.4369e+06/min)
- Copper ore: 16016/sec (9.6099e+05/min)
- Coal: 2598.7/sec (1.5592e+05/min)

Intermediate products created:
- Copper wire: 41796/sec (2.5077e+06/min)
- Iron plate: 38506/sec (2.3104e+06/min)
- Copper plate: 19220/sec (1.1532e+06/min)
- Electronic circuit: 15913/sec (9.5477e+05/min)
- Sulfuric acid: 9871.6/sec (5.923e+05/min)
- Plastic: 6756.6/sec (4.0539e+05/min)
- Steel plate: 6316.3/sec (3.7898e+05/min)
- Solid fuel: 5459.2/sec (3.2755e+05/min)
- Advanced circuit: 2693.9/sec (1.6163e+05/min)
- Low density structure: 814.29/sec (48857/min)
- Rocket fuel: 764.29/sec (45857/min)
- Sulfur: 759.35/sec (45561/min)
- Rocket control unit: 714.29/sec (42857/min)
- Processing unit: 610.2/sec (36612/min)
- Speed module: 510.2/sec (30612/min)
- Battery: 500/sec (30000/min)
- Accumulator: 100/sec (6000/min)
- Rocket part: 100/sec (6000/min)
- Solar panel: 100/sec (6000/min)
- Iron gear wheel: 25/sec (1500/min)
- Radar: 5/sec (300/min)
- Satellite: 1/sec (60/min)

Output products:
- Space science pack: 1000/sec (60000/min)

Details are here, in case you want to compare and see why they disagree.

For what it's worth, my values agree on everything except petrol/coal to this post on reddit:

They dont match, for example advanced circuit.

But youre right, 0.15 changed a few things and that is causing the difference for the OP.

Maybe I could have been a bit clearer.

My values match the ones given in the linked reddit post, not the ones in the OP of this thread.

There are basically going to be 4 sets of numbers. Normal mode, Expensive mode, and both modes using Prod3 all the way down.

You have been clear, they still dont match. For example:

Yours: - Advanced circuit: 2693.9/sec (1.6163e+05/min)
On Reddit: Advanced Circuit: 3,422.74

The reddit post is also outdated since 0.15 introduced a few changes. As far as i know the OP has the correct numbers for 0.15 "normal" recipes.

For completion, this is it for "expensive" recipes.
1.all prod3 modules
2.in red = changes over "normal" recipes
3.green = equal to normal recipes

Thanks guys, yes the difference was due to the chemical plant change, doh. Completely forgot about that.

Your number seems to be off (different than the reddit post even).

Here is my final calculations, which I believe to be fully accurate for 0.15
Image

In this table, I split up copper cables for advanced circuits and electronic circuits, since cables will be produced on-site. I also calculated how many iron plate smelters I need to dedicated for steel production, which should make optimization a little bit easier.

The number of miners needed seems incredibly bad with only prod 3 modules. I will probably substitute one prod3 module for a speed module in the miners, which would be way, WAY faster. For those who've already done the 1 RPM challenge, how did you set up your mining outposts?

was correct for 0.14, changed:
- 3 prod 3 in refinery, chem
- red circuits 8 > 6 seconds

I believe you've over estimated oil, because of this change:

> Reduced the plastic bar recipe requirement of petroleum gas 30 -> 20

In your recipe, you're still using 1.5 (15) petrol per plastic rather than 10.
