Once you buy it, it is the full game. There is no nickel and diming to get the full functionality. One purchase gets it here as stand alone and you can get a key to put it into your Steam library if you have it. Very close to retail launch (they said stable version of the next major version will be released commercially). They haven't said if the price will change once it is officially released out of alpha. One of the best $20 purchases I've ever made.

If you like Big Pharma, Prison Architect, SimCity (before EA ruined it), Civ, and similar games, You will want to buy this.

There are cracked versions out there but the devs are putting increasing restrictions, no multiplayer, mod portal, or updates are the bits that come to mind. However I know of quite a number of players who obtained it cracked then purchased the game because it was so good and they wanted to support the devs. Let's be honest here, they definitely deserve it.

You're better off buying it now as the price is likely to go up after release.

If you do plan on buying the game, which you should, purchase directly from www.factorio.com as the devs will get full compensation while through other means such as steam they do not get the full $20. This game is worth every penny and more, so be sure the devs get their proper cut. You may find yourself buying multiple copies, one for yourself and many for your friends as I have.
