Factorio is like a 2d tetris puzzle. Imagine if you could have a 3d factory that you could build walls / windows for the buildings, pipe in power and liquids, have a loading / unloading dock with forklifts and cranes and then you can walk in and design your factory or just walk around the place.

Think like Amazon or another mega distribution place :)

3D factory is more harder to build. 2D is perfect for this game.

The game doesn't have to be limited to 2d graphics for that.

LOL, I just saw that earlier today. But it's a very simple concept, not very interactive.

Think Minecraft but with Factorio settings instead.

Add in mining / construction vehicles too when you go 'mining' out for resources. Oil pumps that drill in the earth. Can we say Construction Simulator 2015?

transportation trucks & roads to haul stuff along with roads.

enemy raiders who try to steal your loot so you need to build defenses / AI patrols. (Rimworld anyone?)

Anyone ever play http://www.simcountry.com?

I can go on for some time....

Fortress Craft: Evolved

It's Minecraft and Factorios baby. Block based world like MC with logisitics like Factorio. Oh and there is no stupid 255 block limit before you hit bedrock, in fact, there is not limit to how deep you can dig. The deeper you dig, the bigger the veins of ore are. Although there have been some massive ones on the surface http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/f ... =583440767 was one of the biggest I have found yet, but there have been bigger (14mil tin!).

Game is being deloped by one guy (much like how factorio started from what i heard) and its quite well done for a game in Unity done by one dude.

Please keep the game 2d.

Lots of good games died because of 3d, Caeser3->4 comes to mind.

Good idea for another game, but probably the Sun depletes before Intel et al. develop enough powerful processors with consumer friendly price tag at current development pace.

I would recommend FortressCraft Evolved to everyone that would like to play a 3D Factorio. It isn't as polished, and you won't automate crafting and building as much, but it has a very similar feel to it. You mine, smelt, build conveyors and energy distribution networks, do research, build towers against enemies etc...

I think seeing biters from a first person perspective would be terrifying. The blue ones are the size of buildings.. and the green can attack over the wall.
I also think managing the factory layout would be impossible.
Wow, thanks. Spacechem was AMAZING, I will be checking this out tonight!
