Flamethrower behavior changed.

I liked the flamethrower dynamics more before, when to shoot nearby you'd hold fire for just a moment, and after a short period of time it'd reach to full range.

Edit: This change occurred sometime after 0.13.0 and before or in 1.13.13. I was already in 0.13.x

A change in one of the last few experimental updates I mean, I don't think the damage changed at all, it's just now the flamethrower shoots at the mouse cursor instead of just in its direction.

in 0.12-, the flamethrower was severely underpowered, since 0.13 it's maybe even a little bit overpowered

The new flamethrower is much better. Why on earth would I not want the flamethrower to spray where I tell it to?

Because of the game like feeling of dynamics of the old one, as if there was fluid pressure behind it, aiming, pulsing to shoot nearby and less so to build up momentum to shoot up to full range, etc... The new one feels more like hovering a mouse cursor over the enemy you want to hit.

It would be a balance question more than anything. Making hit-and-run tactics just slightly harder and fuel-consuming, since you have to get closer to set nests on fire. Right now, you can basically run in, do a ballet twirl with the nozzle open, and run out again, secure in the knowledge that everything nearby got a little heat.

The newer mechanic does have the disadvantage in that it will shoot OVER enemies if you're aiming far away, so you have to conscientiously mouse over the target, instead of just aiming in the general direction like with the shotgun.
