Getting the most steam possible

Post by Cellidor »

So I'm wondering, not getting into the fine details of how steam engines work, what have been people's most successful and efficient setups for steam engines?

I've noticed that connecting multiple pumps to one line seems to allow more steam engines in a row to be filled, but there are always issues here and there. I'll try a 5 in a row setup, and find the ones at the end getting less water, for example.

So what setups have worked for you guys?

Cool suggestion: Eatable MOUSE-pointers.

I mostly work with one pump, 14 boilers, 10 steam engines. All in one row. If I need more i build a second row

Yup, me too

Important is to create not splitting water flow, and this flow cant be too long (higher number of pumps don't help much).

You can "mesure" power demand by number of working boilers.

Hey guys, thanks very much for the input! I'll have to give a good look into all of these if I want to try and get 100% efficiency going (though I know there's apparently going to be a big re-haul of the water networks in a future update).

This here probably isn't the most efficient set-up, but hey, it should work!

You need at least 7 boilers for 5 turbines to have 100% efficiency

Please, could someone make a validated simple list of steam engines, needed burners, needed pumps?

Oh I know, I'm going to be mining out the iron behind it before I cover it up though.

no point now - better wait till 0.9

Err no you need more boilers (burners) not steam engines.

Ahhh, I misunderstood.
