Landing Pad Planet Limit

Is there a practical reason cargo landing pads are limited to one per planet?

Balance-wise, it would allow sending material cross-planet but that is pretty expensive in most cases. You could target items to different locations. It would also cause possible conflicts from multiple requestors. Since you cannot directly insert you cannot use it as a giant chest.

To be honest, it hasn't come up after I saw the message but I cannot think of a good reason to block duplicates.

Allowing unlimited pads per planet would trivialize orbit to surface logistics.

Not really. You'd still have to get items into orbit. And even then, so what if it did? Why would this be "bad"?

Landing pad placement wouldn’t be a consideration at all. Just place them wherever you need imports. There would be no reason to use trains to move imports, for one effect this would have. The pad is already exactly where you need it.

Why was this restriction made?

If I want to bring a lot of resources from another planet, the most difficult thing will be to get them to the right places.
I'm afraid to imagine what will happen when I build city blocks and my base will be 10k x 10k chunks

maybe add opportunity build a lot landing pads?

Here is a mod that solves this problem:
