Train stations with same name

I'm not able to test this at the moment, but is it possible to set multiple train stations to the same name? If it is, how is it handled by pathing? If not, how would one go about setting up a situation where multiple trains can stop at the same station without crashing in to each other, but can all get unloaded (E.G. multiple platforms)

Can you have multiple stations with the same name - yup
Try this "Fetch" trick using stations with the same name -

Multiple trains not crashing - use signals to prevent trains from occupying the same rail signaled area.
How about different material being delivered to the same stations?
- use a sorter
How about loading a train for it's specific destination (train A to outpost 1 - load 20 turrets)

I don't really get what's going on with the FETCH idea, since stations are persistent in a train's schedule.
So if I have 2 stations named "Home" will the engines go to whichever is closest and available?

Yes, you can, because train will choose the nearest free station with this name. It's very useful for making huge unloading terminals.
