I know factory 2 is just about to be released. Anyway I would like to know if there are already plans for 3.0?
Some Ideas i have would be:
- Build a Dyson Spere
- Explore the inside of the Planets
- Building a Portal to Earth
- Fight of Alien ships / invasation (that wants to hit Earth)
What would be your thoughts on that, or what would you like to see?

I think I read somewhere that there were no plans going further than 2.0 and the expansion.

The good thing is 2.0 really opens up the possibilities for what mods can do. There could very well be new overhaul mods that massively increase the amount of stuff you do in the game like SE or K2. Theres also plans to make the game open source in a handful of years, Kovarex said during an interview in the last month or so. Once that happens we'll likely see an unofficial v3.0 with new content, mechanics, etc.

No one can predict next expansion/addon until at least a year pass after release of latest major version, for any standalone game.
Even if they plan not to create anymore addons, good sales and some mod ideas, may give a hint, what kind update is needed.
Same time, even if there are some unclear plans, they may never be implemented.

Considering it is many years away, they will have opportunity to create such things as:
-Short reach inserter - for moving things 1 tile.
-A faster belt - maybe 80 items per second?
-A new kind of pipe for transporting the tears of players saddened by the new fluid system.
-A face for our wee cryptid engineer buddy.
-Music made from biter screams
-An assembler that assembles faster
-Modules to make factories less noisy (for playing at night)
And who knows what incredible things minds finer than mine could come up with!
