I know it's somewhere, but no clue where.
It's not anywhere near the rail line that I've been working on.
Does the tank not leave a blip on the map like the car does?

It does, but only when it's inside your view area or that of a radar.
I found it though, it ended up inside one of the chests where I park the train that I use to build remote outposts/mines.
Must have tossed it in with other misc items while restocking the train with track etc.

Happened to me as well, I don't know how but I've lost about 5 tanks already.

Advanced logistics mod may help with that.

Personal roboports are usually very handy but i wished those bots stopped ripping that last item out of my hands which i was using to ghost building...

a couple good ones:

- when you're not paying attention, don't look before you cross the 'road', and get run over by one of your own Trains.
- your friends in Multiplayer taking all of a material that's being produced without telling you, and you stare at that machine wondering what went wrong.
- your friends in Multiplayer being terrible at driving and crashing into Electrical poles or factory buildings. especially if they're driving a Tank through the Factory.

#3 2.0 - you've 'babyproofed' your Factory (putting up stone posts to protect machinery from car crashes), and your friends in Multiplayer crash into the stone posts, and still somehow damage some machinery.

Jumping on an automatic train that will be passing an outpost you want to check out, then getting run over by it when you hop out as it's flying by the outpost :x

This happens to me a lot! I somehow lose several of my personal robots because of this (although most eventually find their way back). Usually by the time I stop the train they're long out of range so they stop what they were originally going to do to try to catch up with me and almost always lose power before finally returning to me.

I lose some robots while attacking bitters in a tank, as soon as I take damage they spring into action to repair it, but the bitters are more interested in them instead of me.

This happened to me some days ago. I honestly checked everything, everything was connected and i didn't even cancel any handcrafting in my playthrough. That one underground pipe connection is still in my hotbar.
That gets better in multiplayer :D

"is someone missing an underground pipe??"
"not me"
"no"
"maybe robots took it?"
"it's not there either"
"fuck, where does it go?"
"is something broken now or what??"
"I don't know!"

Accidentally clearing your blueprint for a rail station after you ride a mile down the track to build a new mining outpost.

I lost one of my trains...kinda.

Have something like 30 trains running ore to my base from outposts. I was doing a bit of rearranging and I found one train just going in circles. Stopped it and looked at it's schedule, somehow instead of going to an outpost it was just scheduled to go between two unload stations. Lovely. Now I gotta stop all my trains and see what outpost is missing a train.

Helps if you name the stations obvious things like "X Collect #" and "X Collect #"

Annoyances, messing up a single conveyor and screwing one of your production lines for the next 30 minutes.

I do that, still don't know how it happened though. lol
unload stations are
UL Iron # (1-3)
UL Copper # (1-3)

Outposts are
Copper #
Iron #

Train was going back and forth from UL Iron 2 to UL Copper 2. Guessing one of those was supposed to be an outpost #2. Ended up just sending it to the storage yard and will eventually fix it later by either stopping a train to block the unload area so the trains back up, or just going to the outposts and seeing what trains arrive.

Assigning a train to the wrong station and plumbing down 6-12k iron ore your copper smeltery :( It took me hours to find all production lines that stalled due to iron plates :(

That was the reason to rebuild my entire trainyard and only use robots to unload :P

Smart inserters won't solve your problems when a belt is saturated with copper when other stuff is needed.

I think he means the smart inserters at the train station ;) Yeah, would have been a good idea :P But if you dont do that mistake once, you dont see the need to use smart inserters, they are just more expensive ;)

I mean at that point you make tons of them anyway. I use smart inserters for everything just so it's consistent and looks nice. I've got hundreds spare.

Correct.
It's totally easy to build a inserter production row

|-> long inserter
inserter
|-> fast inserter -> smart inserter
