Can you load an old save-game with the actual version?
Can you load an old save-game with the actual version?
hi, can you load an old save-game with the actual version?
Re: Can you load an old save-game with the actual version?
Depends on the version of the save.
Re: Can you load an old save-game with the actual version?
You can load older saves below 1.0 with previous releases from here:
https://www.factorio.com/download/archive
F.e.
Version 1.0 load saves down to version 0.17 iirc.
0.17 loads saves down to 0.16 or 0.15...
etc.
You don't need to install the games, you just can use the extracted zip version and open it from bin folder

And 1.1 loads down to 0.18.0.
I.e. If you have a really old save (say from 0.13) then you have to jump through several versions to get it into 1.1, but other than being annoying there are no problems with that. I.e. load in 0.15 -> save in 0.15 -> load in 1.0 (aka 0.18) -> save in 1.0 -> load in 1.1.jodokus31 wrote: ↑Tue May 11, 2021 7:14 pmYou can load older saves below 1.0 with previous releases from here:

Re: Can you load an old save-game with the actual version?
thank you!
1.0 (aka 0.18) ? Is version 1.0 = version 0.18 ?
It´s working in version 1.0.0, but not in 1.1.33. Any advice?

Re: Can you load an old save-game with the actual version?
1.0 is the stable version of 0.18, they're mostly identical. You should be able to save the game in 1.0 and then load it in 1.1.33.
Re: Can you load an old save-game with the actual version?
1.1 is working but 1.1.33 not. Crashing without error-screen, simply get stuck.
Re: Can you load an old save-game with the actual version?
Post save and logs
Re: Can you load an old save-game with the actual version?
The trick was to open the save-file in the newer version and don´t let it run - otherwise it crashes.
So load 1.1 in 1.1.33 and directly save it. Then load it again in 1.1.33 and it´s running more then some minutes.

Re: Can you load an old save-game with the actual version?
But between "end of loading" and hitting Escape to stop the game for saving it will run for half a second or so, no?
Or is there another way to save immediately?

Do you have the same problem?
It´s running for round about 50 seconds after loading. Sometimes shorter, sometimes longer. So there is enough time to hit ESC and save on the new version.
I don´t know another way. If your time is short, you can try a script-tool like auto-it.
