Hello,

I recently discovered factorio and bought it on steam.

At first everything seem ok but after around half an hour I got first of many crashes.
When crash occur what happen is, my screen freeze, I can't do anything like alt +tab or ctr+alt+del/end etc. However, I can still hear sound, music etc. so, I suspect I just can't see if task manager has appeared or so.

To resolve this I have to hard reset pc. There is no crash to desktop with any error, no BSOD.

This issue does not happen in any other game, this crash sometimes happen by just playing game and sometimes it seem to be triggered when I alt+tab during game, when I come back from desktop/browser to the game a moment later it crashes.

My pc specs:[CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-9600K CPU @ 3.70GHz, 6 cores, RAM: 16 gb 3600 hz / XMP on NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 - driver 3.3.0 NVIDIA 452.06
OS Name: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro 64 bit
OS Version: 10.0.18363 N/A Build 18363
Game is installed on M2 SSD ASX8200PNP-512GT-C 512GB

I have already went through forums in search for solution however, nothing seem to help.
1.I have updated GPU drivers
2. As mentioned in other topic on the forum, set power plan to "high performance"
3.In game - disabled "Use flip presentation model" in graphics settings
4.Switched to OpenGL renderer - to do that, start the game to main menu, hold Ctrl + Alt and click on Settings, then go to "The rest", search (Ctrl + F works) for force-opengl and enable it, then restart the game.
5.Reduced number of used threads to 2 in graphic settings

There is no error in event viewer in system//app logs.
I'm attaching log file, however there is nothing wrong I can see there. ( in this case, game crashed on start up, for the first time)

I'm stuck here, There seem to be some incompatibility between my hardware and the game, I know for almost a milion other palyers its working, so i don't know what my issue really is.

One thing I didn't really try is full Pc format.
Any Ideas?

I have the same problem as you have. Because I use 2 Monitors I can open my task manager.

-> Same. I have on the other monitor youtube open and if I switch back it freezes.

I'm thinking, that it is one mod which causes the problem, this occurs maybe because of an update of factorio but the mod were not updated.
Before everything worked properly without any problems.

Do you use any mods?
If yes, tell me which ones? If we share one mod together, it might be this one.

Right now i'm really sad, that I cant play factorio properly and i can not figure out which one of the mods causes it (I use a lot!)

Hello everyone

It seem that my ram usage is around 1'550 and after it freeze it goes up... and up.. an up... When I just let it ran it was around 27'000 mb...

Anybody else having the same problem?

Weird though....... how big is your power supply? And what what specific brand is the GPU (not Nvida... is it PNY, Xotec, etc?)

I've had a similar issue with a PNY GTX970 that was "particular" about certain titles. While its too early to say this is the problem in your case..... but its worth paying attention, because this particular type of problem usually ends up being a GPU power feed problem, Driver level problem, or a hardware/firmware flaw on the GPU itself.

If you're super lucky (and assuming the system hasn't been maintained in 2 years), reseating the GPU might actually be enough to clear this problem up.

I had issues with following mods:
Power Entities and Noxy's Trees. I disabled them and voila... Everything works perfekt without any freeze.
I went through every mod I use and saw that someone had problems with those two too.
Please try it as well out and give some feedback.

For me it worked everything perfectly before 1.0. I think the new release broke one of those two. I disabled both.
