How to sync mod version with a save?

How to sync mod version with a save?

It seems like a trivial issue, but the button "sync mods with a save" does not sync the mod versions. Some mods stop working together with updates, which makes me go through a tedious work of changing the mod versions manually each time I go to that save.
Is there a way to sync the mod version automatically with a save?
