Problem updating multiple installs on one computer.

I have several installs on my computer. (I am not on steam, I bought the game from the the Factorio website)

I have multiple copies of the game installed each in its own folder:

"15.37 GG" (playing with the GreyGoo Mod) I dont update this install.
"17.56" game (current long running main game, from before oil change, dont plan on updating)
"17.66" game (main testing playing around checking out new mods)
"17.66 IR" Modded Industrial Revolution" game.
"17.66 SE" Modded Space Exploration" game.

The problem came when I tried to update the 3 "17.66" games to 17.68.
The first one "17.66" game successfully updated to 17.68. (Renamed folder to "17.68"
But when I tried to do the two modded installs ("17.66 IR" and "17.66 SE") both when booted up show the current game is version 17.66, but will NOT allow me to update. I do not get a pop up saying a new version is available, and when I try to check for an update, it says no updates available.

So clearly some setting has been flagged either on the update server or my system registry (Win 8.1) that I have updated a game to latest version.

What can I do to fix this, so I can update all 3 "17.66" installs on my computer?

Thanks

Did you turn on the setting to check for experimental updates?

It is also recommended to use the zip version, which does not set any system flags.

Yes I do download the zip versions... i.e. Factorio_x64_0.17.66.zip

OK, looking at the 17.66 folders,
17.66 the config.ini did show "enable-experimental-updates=true"
The two modded folders had the lines commented out. "; enable-experimental-updates=false"

I suspect now that when I copied the game, that I did not include the config folder and the game "rebuilt" it for the modded installs, so was turned off.

SO its working for me now....

Thanks,
