can your cpu be struggling even if its utilization is at around 35%? with me my fps and ups drops even though in task manager my gpu and cpu utilization is low. this has been a long time problem. i was just hoping that furture updates would have fixed it. and i would be nice to know exacting how certain impact performance.

Factorio is largely single-threaded (and also somewhat memory latency bound, but that's aside the point), so if you have 4 cores even 25% cpu utilization could be a bottleneck. If you could take a screenshot with the debug (F4) options show-fps and show-time-usage enabled, we could probably give you more specific details.A copy of your save may also help.

Unless there's a performance regression or something has a specific significant issue, this should probably go into technical help (as opposed to bug reports); if you want it to stay here (which I doubt it will), or even if it doesn't, a log (location) is required for bug reports and may help otherwise.
There are 10 types of people: those who get this joke and those who don't.

long story, i reinstalled factorio the other day to see if 16.x would play my old save file faster than my newer 17.x to see if it is the newest version causing the issue but the speed was the basically the same(i had to manually delete the factorio app data, except my save files of cause, to get 16.x to install, idk why but whatever). afterwards i reinstalled 17.x . i have reinstalled it before and it play normal for a little while then it would start dipping. i would have to play my 17.x save game for a little while before the issue pop back up but i haven't had much time to play it recently. my 17.x version save is very small so it shouldn't have been a bottle neck issues as my old bass is much much much larger and its fps was only little worst. but i still put my save files here my something is in the data. maybe my laptop is garbage, idk. but i never remember have such problems with such a small almost bot less base(17.x version). if i get the chance to play again i will post the screen shot for the 17.x version. # dont judge my base(17.x version) i was a bit rusty when i started it, im more of a causal player now, no more sleepless nights.
