[0.17.58] Factorio keep crashing (Steam version on Mac)

Hi,
I haven't played Factorio for a while and I upgraded version from 0.17.2x (I don't remember) to the latest version. I am playing a vanilla version without any mods. Now my game keeps crashing after about 5 minutes of playing the game. I tried to restart my computer but no luck. I have the latest Factorio, Steam and Mac OS. Any help what could I try to resolve the problem?

Hello, first of all, please post here Factorio log file. It should be located at ~/Library/Application Support/factorio/factorio-previous.log

I even tried playing offline but no luck. Crashed again.

There is no crash in the log, but it also just ends (it didn't exit properly). What happens when it crashes? Does it just disapper do you get some dialog window?

Yes, that is basically it. The game stops responding, the cursor turns into the spinning beach ball. After two seconds game disappears and also the steam client is not running. No dialogue, nothing.
I have to restart the steam client and start Factorio again.

Can you try to open Factorio properties in Steam Library, and set launch options to
... and try if it makes standard macOS crash report dialog to pop up when the crash happens? If it does, could you please post its crash report here?

same issue. factorio process starts and is just doing nothing for a while until it quits. have no crash report but i took a sample of the process if that helps:

It seems to me Steam is being terminated (I don't know if it crashes, or just shuts down for some reason), and the game calls into Steam API it also terminates (probably because Steam API detects Steam is not running anymore).
I just tested on Windows that exiting Steam while stop the game immediately, and killing Steam process will shut down the game when it tries to interact with Steam API.
So I would suggest trying to reinstall Steam, and if that doesn't help reach out to Steam support.
OR download non-Steam version of the game from factorio.com and play that (if you don't have user account factorio.com (it's separate from forum account), you'll need to create one and link it with your Steam account to get access to the standalone build of the game)
