multiplayer uses up my ram quickly and crashes

All I want to know is how to limit the ram usage on my linux mint pc

RAM usage is based off the demands of the save file you're running. The game won't allocate more then it needs so if it's crashing with out of RAM then you simply need to use a different smaller save file or get more RAM.
