15.40 Won't load via steam [Ubuntu 17.10]

15.40 Won't load via steam [Ubuntu 17.10]

Hello, I haven't been able to load the game via steam on my linux computer since updating to ubuntu 17.10. I've been playing with the pre-compiled version without any difficulty, but the game refuses to finish loading when the steam version launches. I've also tried the most recent version, with no change.

Hello, I don't know. It seems to me your Steam client is broken somehow.
The crashes when checking if player data file exists in Steam Cloud, so try to disable Steam Cloud in Factorio properties in Steam Library.

Steam cloud is already disabled for factorio. This happens with Starbound as well, but not with games like Kerbal Space Program.
