Multiplayer issues.

My friends are on the same connection, while I am on a different one. My friends can only join the same server when the settings are visible to lan only, so I am unable to join. If the server is set to lan and public I can join but the others on the same connection as the server cannot. I can't host because my internet is bad. Any suggestions?

make it public so you can connect and get the people on the LAN to connect via "Connect to server" with the host's computer name.

I would guess the issue is the NAT on the host's internet connection. As the people on the lan are connecting via their public address to their public address the NAT may not allow it to point back to itself.
