Some question on multiplayer

A friend gifted Factorio to me through Steam, and we just tried playing together. Here's some questions i had from my first multiplayer experience.
1) I typoed my username when creating a game account, an tried making a new one. It told me the email address was already in use. So, i changed the email address, but now it tells me my steam account is already in use. Can i delete the account a typoed. Or just create a new account?
2) I am playing over 4glte on my phone. He has a cable connection. It continuously (as in every second or two) pops up a message that it can't communicate with the server. Is that normal? Is it better if one or the other of us is the host?
3) We got disconnected once and on reconnect, it downloaded the map a second time. Is that really necessary?
4) Is the list of public games limited to people of the same version?
