Hello Folks,

Before i get to the point, please excuse expected mistakes (My English is not as good as it should be)

So ive been enjoying Factorio for now a few hours, i really enjoy the Game so far. A few days ago i tried to hosted a Server in order to play with an friend, as soon as i generate oder load an level on which we want to play (obviously only Multiplayer) a little window pops up which tells me Failed to determine external IP adress, Other players might not be able to connect We tried different options like connecting to other internet, check the game with the Steam-function to see if there are any issues, googled the problem, we even tried direct connect or wanted to try Hamachi and co. (but it became late soon that evening :lol: ) so far ive been reading a lot of guides etc. but no 100% guarantee for me.

I can connect to about 95% of all servers (browse public games, it shows the Ping, Mods etc.) and at some Games it shows "undefined, can't reach"

Of course this issue bothers me, in order to fix my problem i tried to:

*search for issues via Steam-function
*tried all different Game versions (0.12.35 - 0.15.x)
*tried to connect with an mobile internet device from my roommate, handy-hotspot and of course my own Router, same result by all of them
*let someone try to direct connect, and i tried it it says: can´t reach host
*deactivated firewall and virus protection
*set it to let it communicate in some firewall setting

*Once i changed Nat Type B to A which means open all ports, changed it back to default settings because that did'nt worked eiter

Yeah thats pretty much it. It's an issue i can't solve alone.

If i wanted to play with friends i need to hope i can connect with luck or somehow (maybe hamachi etc.) or need a server.
Please excuse perhaps missing "important" informations.

Would be nice if you guys could help me fix this problem, solving approaches are welcome but no estimates or guesses please.
If you think you have an solution or want me to ask something feel free to do so.

What kind of modem/router do you use? (Marke, Modell, version wenn möglich)

Please also post a log file after trying to host the server and then closing the game.

Hi.

Issue: I can Host a Multiplayer Game but this Message appears: "Failed to determine external IP address. Other players might not be able to connect." And in the bottom left: "Matching server connection resumed". My friend cant Join the Game!

However...this is what i checked and what i try... that DIDN`T work!

Windows 10
Im Player via Steam with the beta rules for 0.15x
Direct Cable Connect to Router! no wlan or other connections!
FritzBox 7360. I have done the Portforwarding!! UDP on my PC-Adress with 34197! (Also tryd TCP and both options: manual input of IP adress, selection of PC in the dropdown menu)
I have added new rules to the windows firewall for factorio! (Tryd setting up Program rule and Port rule, i also checked the standard factorio firewall settings...)
setup the FritzBox 7360 for static IPv4 on my PC!
Deinstall and Reinstall the Game!
Launching the Game as Admin!
Asking Google! Searching Forums! No fix!
Other Games that need Portforward are working fine without issue...after i setup the port forward in my fritzbox!

Ill try that PF sense thing program 8-)

is there some other solution in windows config or whatever? so that i dont have to install an extra program....for multiplayer!? in my oppinion this should not be necessary :roll:

ehm... you say direct connectet to modem, and then port forwarding...?



Port forwarding == router.

Which ip u use to connect to the server?
