Game was working fine, randomly it's started crashing on start up during Building Prototypes...
I get the error "Error in assignID, item-sugroup with name 'fill-barrel' does not exist."
I'm not running any mods

[0.15.6] Game crashing on startup
Re: [0.15.6] Game crashing on startup
Did you already verify the game files on Steam?
Re: [0.15.6] Game crashing on startup
That was the first thing we tried to fix this issue, googled, couldn't find anything and referred Zamf to post here with the log.
Re: [0.15.6] Game crashing on startup
I think steam only checks for stuff missing/changed, the problem you have is a defect update inserting .15 stuff into your 14.23 installation.
Re: [0.15.6] Game crashing on startup
It functioned on 15.5 and earlier, broke at 15.6Loewchen wrote:I think steam only checks for stuff missing/changed, the problem you have is a defect update inserting .15 stuff into your 14.23 installation.
How does he fix the issue though?

Did he roll back to 14.23 from some 0.15 version?Ziggarius wrote:It functioned on 15.5 and earlier, broke at 15.6Loewchen wrote:I think steam only checks for stuff missing/changed, the problem you have is a defect update inserting .15 stuff into your 14.23 installation.
Re: [0.15.6] Game crashing on startup
So, After a lot of digging (and me cleaning my room) I found the problem. My computer had a hiccup with the drive that steam was installed on right before this happened. This hiccup made steam forget that I had opted into the .15, so as far as I can figure, steam tried to set my file to .14, even though I had the .15 exec.
Opted back into .15 beta and game launched fine.
I think Factorio was just telling me to clean my room? Lesson learned, always check to make sure you're still opted into the beta?

Re: [0.15.6] Game crashing on startup
The real question now is, if rolling back to 14.23 from a .15 installation does brick the installation generally or just in this strange case.
