Crash on Startup

When I open factorio it loads about 5 percent and then crashes with the infamous "factorio quit unexpectedly". I'm on mavericks and I don't know what version of factorio because it won't open. The game used to run fine and suddenly stopped working. Redownloading and installing the game didn't help. Please help I really want to play the game

I have an immediate crash, also on 14.04. Luckily I'm on a dualboot, so I can still play.

Silly question: Isn't "14.04" supposed to be "ubuntu Trusty Tahr" instead of some macosx?

Sorry for the inconvenience. Could you provide the crash report? There should be show details in the window which says that the game crashed ...
