I have been having an issue with windows 10 and factorio with screen tearing. I have found the only thing that works to keep this from happening is setting v-sync to true in the config file. However, after you launch and close the game this setting is reverted to false. Is there a way to keep that from happening so I don't have to rewrite this literally every time I want to play the game?

You could try to enable the write protection for the config.ini.
Of course only after you set up everything the way you want it.

wouldn't that screw me every time the game had a new update? I still don't understand the need to have removed the option in game in the first place.

Go to steam, Right click factorio and hit settings/options and disable cloud save for factorio Saw this somewhere on the forums i believe.
