multiplayer lag

ok me and a friend started up a world we got over 2 hours of gameplay with no lag when he comes back he loses the save and i gave him the save because of other reasons but when i join it lags like i will walk for 2 secs then lag spike what can i do and why is it doing it

You should add some information if you expect some help. It's as is you wrote a post to your doctor saying "I'm ill, I have fever, fix it" without other clue
.
You should at least give us information on your machines, you may add your log file, your savegame, your modlist if you have one, ...
