Are you asking how many processing cores the game can use?

Yes, how many cores of my processor, the game can use

More than you may think, but less than you may wish.
The real question is what do you expect to achieve with this information, whether it is 1, 278, or whatever in between ?

If you take a close look at the results on factoriobox, you will notice that some 2-core Intel Celerons perform much better than 8-16-core AMD processors, and sometimes the results of these dual-core processors are equal to those of 8-core processors.
Everyone interprets the results for himself

huh? I just asked simple question. I dont know why you answer like that.

Thanks, idk what is factoriobox. Simple answer 'two' would be enough.
cheers

And just as incorrect as any other random number.

Sorry, I was not toying with you.
Factorio supports as many cores as you can have. One core ? Supported. 4 cores ? Supported. 64 cores ? Supported.
People think Factorio is monocore, which is untrue. But Factorio cannot make use of many cores equally, there is a big part of single thread, and a smaller part of CPU distributed on additional cores.
How many cores are used ? Factorio will use as many cores as needed if available, but every additional core has diminishing returns on game performance.

Testing is very easy.
(Except macOS)
How to see results.
how do you compare
For example, we take a very complex and heavy map
https://factoriobox.1au.us/results/cpus ... =1.0.0&vh=
We look at the results of a 2-core (officially not overclockable) processor
https://factoriobox.1au.us/result/1429b ... e348db6395
We look at the results of a 4-core (officially not overclockable) processor
https://factoriobox.1au.us/result/a669e ... f851e65cd6
We look at the results of the processors that are lower in the list, and look at how many cores they have and in what year they were released, unlike the G3900 (Q4'15).
And we make our own conclusions.
You can also test your many-many-core processor and think ...

I have two processors and dont know which would be better to Factorio
#1 . i7-3612QM
https://ark.intel.com/content/www/pl/pl ... z-bga.html
#2 . i5-3340M
https://ark.intel.com/content/www/pl/pl ... 0-ghz.html
First have more cores, but weaker single core
Second have less cores, but stronger single core

Purely speculative i7-3612QM should be more productive in Factorio, due to a slightly larger cache.
Installed RAM and RAM speed, timings are also of great importance.
otherwise, you can put the game on both laptops and run the test both there and on the other.
For a standard game and launching one rocket, both will fit

For anyone else finding this thread and checking out Factoriobox (and reading down as far as this post), Factoriobox is not a reliable indicator of performance for this game on different CPUs. Each of the different tests results that get recorded are from different machines that happen to have the same proc. As such, there will be variations depending on the software that happened to be running on the machine, including OS, any over clocking of the CPU, the mainboard used, the amount of RAM and its clock speed and timings, etc, etc, etc.
If each CPU had hundreds if not thousands of test results, then maybe we could consider some of that as being filtered out by averages, but not all, and we especially can’t determine that when many of the procs only have a few test results, some even with only 1.
The idea behind the site is not bad, but there’s not enough results - or control and rules behind result gathering - for any of the numbers to have any real meaning behind them except for novelty purposes.
