Linux AWS Headless Server update help 1.1.33 to 1.1.34

Hello ,
Am using a AWS linux to run a server for some co-op play , i would like to know
if there are any simpler ways to update the server to current version .
through command terminal access.
Am also looking for some advice on installing mods on the server ,
i have referred to a lot of guides , but a lot of them seem outdated , for a different version or just plain complicated.
