[0.17.4] cannot replace/move/remove items in quickbar by dragging

I couldn't figure out how to remove items from the new quickbar until I read up on them in the forums (it's middle-click BTW).
Since the "only thing that seems to work" for putting items into the quickbar is dragging (personally I would like to be able to use a number key [maybe with a modifier] while hovering over at item in the inventory), I was quite surprised that I could not use the same dragging mechanism to replace an item (dragging another/different item into an occupied slot).
Furthermore, I was surprised that:
* I could not move a quickbar item by dragging into a different slot (it duplicates it)
* I could not remove a quickbar item by dragging it back into the inventory
Somewhere between a suggestion and a bug, I thought this would better be labeled as a bug since it is both a usability issue and an interface inconsistency.
I understand there may be more optimal mechanisms (like middle click & key combos), and for all I know this could require a lot of reworking, but IMO these drag operations are certainly more discoverable (e.g intuitive).
