[0.16.1] macOS 10.11.6 dyld: Symbol not found

Factorio fails to start on my MacBook Pro, macOS 10.11.6.

I have removed ~/Library/Application Support/factorio to no avail.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Factorio from Steam, to no avail.

Steam shows factorio Running for a second, then Running indicator disappears. There are no log files generated.

From the command line, it looks like the process does not start at all:
