[0.12] [Windows 10] [AMD graphics card] Failed to create display

can someone please help me.

When i updated the game to 0.12.2 and I started it the screen is blinking around and gives me a error message Failed to create display.
i have updated my videodriver and still the same issue.
I have reinstalled the game to 0.11.22 back and I have have the same issue that I didnt have before.

The only thing thats is in the log file is 14.288 Error Util.cpp:43: failed to create display!.

Can someone help me with this error?????

Perhaps.. if you stated your OS type and version
and then proceeded with CPU, GPU and VRAM information...

I have this sometimes too. A weird flickering and this message. Mostly after standby. Than i have to reboot the pc and it loads normaly.
I use:
Windows 10 Pro x64
AMD Radeon 290X
Intel Core i5-4670K @4,5 GHz
16 GB DDR3 1600 MHz Ram

Try to start the game in windowed mode by adding/modifying the fullscreen line in your config.ini to

Code: Select all

fullscreen=false

Please post your graphics card specs, especially the amount of VRAM it has. It might fail because there's not enough VRAM available.

@ps666 the 290X should have >= 4GB VRAM, maybe it's related to Windows 10. Did you have the same problems with Windows 7/8 ?

In 0.12.1 I did not have this issue. But I updated Windows and Factorio at the same time.
I think this is related to Windows 10.

Edit: This occurs even without the standby.

Yes, I did. To the newest one for Windows 10 64 Bit - v15.7.1

Well, the only solution I can think of is, that we have to buy AMD Graphics card pc to test it. It will take some time though.

Does it say in your log file after the amd thing:
Engineering sample?

I have no engeneering sample.

I must withdraw my statement.
The error shows up every day. Not sometimes.
This sucks pretty much.
