Sad about the launch party, but the responsible decision! We have to make sure we catch up some other time. Personally I'm more the lan party type than the party type though, in case a few days playing factorio on lan at some point would be an option :)

That polluted water looks amazing by the way :o I'm very impressed how much you are still adding just before the launch.

Green water finally! I like the idea of using it as pollution indicator.
Also nice work on a bit of biter biome. So the next big run in 2 weeks seems to be set then.

It's unfortune to hear about the launch party, but it is probably a decision for the better.

I'd like to recommend video gamer Tuplex for a press pass but your pedantic form won't let me as I don't have an e-mail for him :(

tbh I think the water should turn red-brown or even purple.
Maybe add oily puddle effects.

green water would suggest that there is a lot of algae around.

Those new visual effects are great!

What would happen to alien decoratives after the player kills the nests/worms? Would it behave like any other decorative, like having a specific chance to be removed when placing concrete on it?

According to wikipedia, Nutrient pollution, usually nitrogen or phosphorus, can stimulate algal growth.

As i made me a small mod which pumps only dirty (polluted) water you need to clean before using it as water......

Maybe a pump can pump only the underlying fluid, so in the case of polluted water one can only get some polluted water and needs some cleaning

I feel sorry for the team & everyone who was planning to go at the party. Cancelling was the right decision to make.

The graphical improvements presented this week are really good :)
I was wondering if implementing walking speed penalty on the alien decoratives, like in the creep mod, would have a positive impact.

I really like the idea of polluted water, good stuff! But please tweak the color of it a bit such that it looks more like polluted water and less like a spinach smoothie. :)

I suggest that biters should had certain places around colonies (or in large colonies) for their nasty waste products. It would add natural feeling and immersion in game (at least for arthropod enthusiasts, which do not see them disgusting slimy stinking micromonsters). All insects keep their nests very clean and social insects which produce large amounts of waste have usually separate landfill places near their colonies where they bring all wastes. It is necessary to keep fatal bacteria and fungi under control.

In realistic game player could use biter's waste as a biological weapon against them by dispersing them in their colonies like in that picture.

I think a bilious or rusty color would be more appropriate

I like the concept of polluted water but that's a very rich green and my first thought is that it was a very healthy algae, thriving with life (this sounds like the opposite of polluted and uninhabitable but I did since read that algae can thrive on some chemicals pollutants), but I also thought the colour was like rich grass, which might be hard to distinguish against actual grass. It looks a little too positive.
It would look more unhealthy if the green had more yellow in it or if the water is brown, but then you have to check it doesn't look like sand. Cities Skylines polluted water was pretty disgusting brown, however that was literally sewage. Another layer of detail could be debris bobbing about and black swirls, dead fish, litter and dead foliage that made its way into the water, however GPU budgets might disagree with that method.

I think brown water would be better, green is kinda ugly too much)

On the other hand I like it to be green. Feels much more alien-like then a "classical" brownish water.

Inclined to agree regarding the water colour.
It's a great effect, but that shade of green feels far too garish to fit the rest of the graphics style. Should definitely have a more dull, brownish look.

I'm super excited that the green water is finally getting some use, and that pollution now has a more visible impact!
However, I too feel that that shade of green isn't quite right. This is a game in which you destroy the environment! The polluted water isn't ugly enough.

I'm very sad the party has been canceled, but I understand.

I'm not sold on the concept of green water unfortunately, even thought I like the general idea. Considering the player spends nearly ALL of his time in the polluted area, there is not much place to see the normal water anymore. So for me it seems not much different to just replacing the water tile set with the green one in general, but here I clearly prefer the blue one. :)

I am sad that the party can not come trough.

I hope that you instead will setup a server that all players can join and that the aim is that we launch the first rocket of 1.0 on a map only played in 1.0 with all who are willing to play with.

I hope that if you go trough on this idea you can get a server that can handle that many players (and set a new WR in the prosses).

I like the idea of polluted Water, but how about if no fish spawned there?
