Woah, those spaceship graphics look amazing! It goes to show that the graphics / VFX department is very competent when you can say "that looks like part of this game, but it looks completely different from everything else!"

Also, Assembly Machine redesign hype!

Maybe something 'bout the launch date of the new campaign, and maybe it's justo some random number :p

You should worry where the other 77 chests are.

It would be really nice to see crash sites possibly sprinkled around worlds with chests for loot and structures that you could either destroy for salvage or use in place and build around. It would add a whole new level of depth and decision making to exploration!

Does this have to do with the game development? (took 79 tries to get it right?)

Maybe it has to do with the backstory where there are countless other Factorio technicians that went splat when they hit the planet?

The masses need an answer!

I've already booked my tickets for the hype train. I'm ready.
FFF wrote:You don’t really want to know the meaning of the numbers.
Aha. I sense reverse psychology. Tell us already!

Best guess: The numbers are the amount of sprites for the new assembling machine :p!

On first glance of the first picture i assumed the "thing with the window" would be the cockpit and not the lab. Albeit why would a cockpit have copper coils... the yellow color has a nice "this is a construction (space-)vechicle" vibe though.

Nice preview. This somehow reminds of the C&C3 Tiberium Sun campaign where you can find and defend a crash site as well. I really loved it.

Since you improved the performance again, lets just try to add some more mods to the mix^^.

As for the container number:
* Did you (@factorio) google the number?

* Today is the 179 day of the year (mhh, almost...)
* You could try leet speech and try to read a date from that, but lets call it a stretch at best
* If you just read it as a date then we will be happy soon.
* Or read the number on the other container :D

The design is more based in the (yet unshown) redesign of the assembling machines
Now you have mentioned assembling machines. I really really really hope that you can add the ability to turn assembling machines on/off via circuit network.
We can turn off miners now, why not assembling machines? Also furnace?
I don't really like using the power switch because of the flashing icon.

Maybe also the ability to read contents?

Rseding. Master of bug fixes and optimisations.

Also, the best thing about you designing new assembling machine graphics is...

I can use the old ones for something else (or keep using them for the something else) resulting in a more unique distinction between the assembling machine, and bob's thing that currently uses assembling machine graphics.

as an example, I just added 3 new entity chains to my mods. 1 of them using a mix of the old steel furnace and the old steam engine graphics... and the others using a combination of the heat pipes from nuclear reactor, and the old steel furnace.
That old steel furnace looks like crap.
