Happy Birthday. Didn't read the whole, but that has to be said. :)

---

Okay, now I did read it.
Would it be possible to get the car image in higher quality? Maybe for Furnace Attendant?

just to post it again, can we pleeeeeaaase have this kind of graphics quality (high resolution!) in the game?
i mean, the 8bit-oldschool style is nice and all, but i would really appreciate a crisp graphics renderer. cheers and happy birthday ;)

I'd ride up on a McD's in that.

Happy birthday Kovarex !

Isn't it a bit frustrating to realize that is not easier than 18 years ago to handle these problems ?

You really want them to code everything, again, from scratch ? That is mean.

Happy Birthday! I always appreciate such FFFs. To read about your problems is really exciting as I'm a developer myself! =)

I really hope all this trouble, time and money invested in multiplayer will pay of in the future. The development with new mechanic and content in the last year slowed down a lot because of multi. Hope it will be worth it so we can get more game content in the future. Ehh i can only dream what could have all be implemented in the game for this time if there was no need to work on multiplayer.

Všechno nejlepší k narozeninám, Kovarex! (Kovarexi? I've never been good at mixing Czech and English >.>) Factorio is a genre-defining game, much like a mini-Minecraft in a way. That's definitely an achievement to be proud of!

The new car render and the defense turret are looking cool! Can we get sprite masks for it, though, the ones that biters have? The blue colour is looking nice on the car, while the tank is rather... boring in the steel gray. If we could get the blue back or even more colours through mods, that would be wonderful!

On that topic, I love the player masks, I wanted to show my mother the game (she's an industrial engineer) and she couldn't tell player 2 from 3 (her and my brother) so I changed their masks to purple and blue, she loved her new suit

Doing it it properly is not easier than 18 years ago :)

Frustrating is, that the power and speeds of current technology
allowed some coders to use the force instead of doing it right.

Oh what a coincidence, I celebrated yesterday too. Not exactly birthday, but it was a huge life milestone as well.

Tak aj takto oneskorene, všetko najlepšie!

Sad but true.

Reading the two articles you linked about how those two games (and Factorio) do multiplayer made me thing. Is there any reason you didn't go for a client+server model? As a developer who has never worked on a (proper or multiplayer) game before that sounds much more stable and straight forward, but I'm probably missing some obvious terrible problems. It would be nice reading about that decision in some future (or past?) Friday Facts post.

Have fun sending a few thousand items on belts every second to every person. Also that would double the latency (user -> server -> user instead of user -> user). (Hint: That's not reasonably practicable.)
