I'm from Poland, so I can explain the name.
I suppose it's from the WB (welcome back) shortcut.
In Polish, it's spelled 'voobe', which in Polish (and Chech) is written 'wube'.

I know it's VERY old thread, but I hope someone reads it :)

Ooh, I thought it was from "Lube", written with a polish l with bar ( Ł ), as that would be pronounced Wube (assumed without knowing Polish though)
