[1.1.21] Crashes frequently while rendering

I started playing Factorio recently after 1.1.19 went live, and started playing a custom scenario created with Factorio 1.0.0. I played quite a lot on 1.1.19 without any crashes, but the recent update to 1.1.21 is causing the game to crash frequently (about 4 times so far today).

I am playing vanilla without any mods, even though the scenario was using the Bottleneck mod originally.

No major changes have occurred to my system since Factorio 1.1.19 came out.

Thanks for the report. Based off the two crash logs and the stack traces in them they say to me that you have bad hardware or unstable hardware. I would start by running a memory test (memtest86+) and if you're overclocking to disable the overclock and see if that helps.

The locations you're crashing at are run by literally every player out there every frame every time they have the game open so if there was an actual bug in the code it would be sticking out like a sore thumb. Based off the automatic crash logs; there's no sore thumb sticking out :)

you might also want to monitor the voltage on your PSU rails and incoming mains to the residence, as brownouts can cause erratic behaviour and PSUs degrade over time due to things like corrosion and electromigration - not to forget the ol' capacitor plague.

Thank you all for the input.

@Rseding91 In regards to the memory suggestion, a long battery of memtest86+ tests didn't uncover any memory issues, and the weird thing is that some of the crashes have happened in the main menu. I have a hunch my GPU may be on its last leg. The only recent CUDA-based memory testing program I found[1] was POSIX-based, and I don't have to time nor the drive to port it to Windows.

Anyways, I didn't just register in the forums to complain. I absolutely love Factorio. I've been playing for a few years now, but I still haven't launched a rocket into space. :P
