[0.18.10] Crash during save: "Chunk::preSaveNonRecursive"

Place for things which are bugs but we have no idea how to solve them. Things related to hardware, libraries, strange setups, etc.

Hi all, this is my first crash report - so I'm not really sure what the format should be :?

Can you reproduce the crash with the latest working save file?

@Loewchen,
- Can not reproduce when loading from last manual save. Everything seems fine when loading last manual save.
- Could also not load _autosave2.zip.tmp - factorio ui says "file corrupted"

But I remember nou what I was doing when it crashed: I was busy middle-click removing shortcuts from the bottom panel when the one slot got stuck to glowing yellow, even while clicking on other slots. I can not remember if this or the auto save started first.

Thanks for the report. A crash in that location along with not being able to reproduce it says 0/1 magic or memory corruption/hardware issues to me.

Unless anyone is able to reproduce the crash I'm going to move this to 0/1 magic and suggest you run a memory test.

Thanks, will do mem test etc. Agreed, could be hardware - it's an old device.

Don't know if these could have an effect:
  • System has an almost 5 year old SSD, but it's a samsung pro, so it might still have some cycles left (maybe).
  • Earlier the day I was playing around with swappiness & cache_pressure settings, because my system is already at the max supported RAM for the chipset (8GB). It's almost constantly at 98%, unless I close all other apps. I should probably upgrade :D
It's the first ever crash I got on any version of Factorio, so thought it would be good to report :)
