Do we still need creative mode mods and scenarios?

Do we still need creative mode mods and scenarios?

Post by Gergely »

Now that Factorio 0.17 has a pretty robust map editor, do we still need the mods that allow players to create items out of thin air?

Here I listed some creative mode mod features that I know of:
  • Summon items? Buildings? Check!
  • Research any technology? Check!
  • Infinite item source/sink? Check!
  • Infinite electricity? Check!
  • Infinite fluid source/sink? Check!
  • Instant mining/crafting? Check!
The map editor basically allows the level of experimenting we used to use creative mode mods and scenarios (such as mine) for. So is there any more need for them?
Is there anything the map editor didn't cover?

Cheats without being flagged to disable (modded game) achievements; using mods disables the ones you can see on steam already.

The real question is, do we have any reason to not have them? If someone wants to maintain one, more power to them.
