New resource: steam, the mining drill needs water as mining fluid. Good option for steam powered technologies.

https://mods.factorio.com/mod/Geothermal is close, the drills don't need water but also don't produce steam directly; you need to convert their superheated water to steam first, which requires regular water.

The "drills" optionally need water. The heat exchangers, which process the fluid from the drills to steam, always need water.

The balance overall is actually solid: it isn't a clear win to use geothermal for everything, but it is nice to have as an adjunct to, eg, solar fields, and definitely provides a very solid, reliable source of energy. The output of the heat exchanges is just ordinary 500 degree steam, so you could use it for anything you want, not just run it through turbines for power

I'd definitely suggest it for you, darkfrei - except for some reason I get the impression you want this very early, and they are mid-game constructions in the mod.
