I tried a bit of modding but due to game engine weirdness it don't work.
The idea was to utilize new self-fueling burner-inserter and expand burner-phase a bit. Namely with new low-level treefarm in Treemod, one could produce infinitely large source of burner-material.
However, without assembly machine and lab, there is really no utilization for such base apart of "ammasing resources" eg. early in game to automatize resource-production or lately in game in distance bases without nearby water (but even then one could rather use solar panels). So burner-lab and burner-assembly machine to fully utilize this low level sound like fun.
However I realized that game engine doesn't support burner-type of energy in those machines. Even producing something that generate a little electric energy to support these makes burner-inserter replecable with classic inserter as building electric poles is bit easier than tons of belts for coal all over the place.
Any idea how to make burner-powered factory with still usefull burner-inserters?

Might want to have a look at the Yukoki Industries Mod. There is a so called "Outpost Mining Drill" which behaves like the coal run mining drill.
Basically you need the furnance character that it accepts at least one item as fuel.
