Armoured trains were really used only for brief period of time, later if they were used, they were rather just defensive equipment.

However, armoured trains are quite a cool thing and Factorio trains are cool too. The question is, it is possible to mod in armoured wagon? Either standard gun, laser (with enough solar panels) or even artilerry.

Turret cars are already possible but they're sorta hacky - you basically have a building placed on top of a vehicle and it's position updates periodically. Technically the same could be done with trains, but it might be glitchy and I'm not sure if it's okay with the fact that trains run on rails, which are buildings.

armoured trains have already been done by dytech. Just check it out at Big mods section. Also you would only need to change normal train's health to make it "armoured"
