Right now the game inserts materials to make TWO items. I want to increase that count. Maybe even fill up the factory with materials.

Some factories eat up materials so fast that inserters cant react.

I think you can accomplish the same thing by doing this:

1. Supply a box (or boxes) that feed the assembler
2. Add additional inserters from the box (or boxes)

In general, increasing the quantity of raw materials would be very, very bad because you would fill a single assembler with the raw materials to make a bunch of items and leave the second, third, fourth, etc, assembler starved of resources and unable to make anything. What would you rather have?

1. A single assembler with the raw materials to make 100 items that take 2 minutes each. This requires 200 minutes total. The second through, for example, tenth assembler get no raw materials.
2. Ten assemblers are fed the raw materials to make two items. 100 items take 20 minutes to produce.

If you are having trouble getting enough raw materials to an assembler, you can always add more inserters, etc.

I want to be able to controll the amounts of mats inserted. For example copper wire makers could stack mats for say, 10 items. But it only stacks for two.

I want to test things out a bit.

My material-income is massive. Feeding them in the factories is often the issue.

This would be a base game suggestion I think.

And also a needed one - if you use fast assembler (speed modules and/or modded to 3+ speed) and try to use recipe with short craft time on it then stack inserters are not able to keep it running. Even if you place two of them and they have full express belt of materials.
They simply wait to long for input buffer to empty and then time to do the swing and place new materials is to long - assembling machine runs out and stops for short while.

T3 assembler with T3 speed modules just stutters when making copper wire. I have to have dozen all over the place to keep up things going

This is more a base game problem. But an extra fast small-hand inserter like bob's express inserter prevents stuttering because it can respond quickly enough.

So it "cant be modded" just like that?

My current workaround is warehouse(MOD) or boxes and 3 stack inserters. One row of 3 boxes. From bolt to box and from box to factory. Container to container is faster than moving from belt to factory.
