By normally logistics you have always some problems with bulks.
You can access only big bags, but your provider makes only oktabins but needs ship containers.
Your customer can't working with boxes bigger than 20 liter, but you can pack it only in barrels, nothing else.
It means, you are need this logistic repacking system, that can unpack all packages and use this stuff for new type of containers.

This is octabin:Koub wrote:I don't know for the others, but I don't understand what you are requestiong
Some fabrics can packing octabins only and their product lines can't support other containers.
It's big bag:
Another fabrics can supports big bag only. For another package supporting needs too much investments, so it's easy repack few octabins to big bags.
Just bags on pallet:
And bulks:
A lot of sizes! It can be only one bulk/pallet, 12, 24, 72 and they are incompatible to existing foreign product lines!
It wasn't in game, but this stuff we have in real life.
Re: Damned bulks
There are a few mods that do compression/boxing to make a 'container' out of a stack of ordinary items. The benefit is that it is only a single item when transferred by belt, inserter or robot instead of several items, which makes logistics a lot easier.
I think darkfrei proposes a compression mod that compresses items depending on their appearance (plates on a pallet, copper cable on spools, granular plastics in big bags). It converts compressed items so they can be handled by other assemblers. For example your refinery outputs petroleum in 100L barrels but your plastic assembler only accepts 5L jugs (stupid example I know). You need an assembling machine in between that converts 100L barrels to 5L jugs.
That's just my understanding, I'll leave it to darkfrei to confirm/correct my interpretation.

Thanks, it was exactly what I mean, I can't explain it betterdaniel34 wrote:That's just my understanding, I'll leave it to darkfrei to confirm/correct my interpretation.
Re: Damned bulks
If someone provided the base "package" icons I will update the compression mod to used them
Re: Damned bulks
Just proof of concept. For vanilla only. Result replacing only.
The code was a little messy written, but it seems working.
