Gergely wrote:Why would they lose the trademark (for real batteries) if games use the design? That's the hard-to-understand part. Yeah, sure games make more people believe that the design is nothing specific to Duracell, but that does not mean somebody will eventually be able to produce real clones just because they are in games. I never thought law takes games that seriously.
Actual trials are very expensive and unpredictable for companies. It is very understandable that Duracell is careful and ask Factorio to stop to use icon too near their trademark and Factorio is careful and change the icon. It costs less than an hour of work for both companies and everyone are on the safe side after that. There is no real reason to even begin thinking is it absolutely necessary or what are consequences if they do not change it. Consulting lawyers and further negotiations would cost several orders of magnitude more.

oh shit, now it means I have to release a patch updating my own icons to match.
Can someone please notify me when this happens? Where should I sign up for a notification?

Since I already change the colour of the old battery so many people love in my bobplates mod to make the silver oxide, and lithium ion batteries, I'm thinking I'll re-colour the original yet again (to remove the copper top) and release it as an override colour.

Alternatively I might dive back into 0.9 and re-use the old battery from there.

Either way, Yellow, Red, Blue it is! (Belt colours for 3 tiers) or maybe Red, Blue, Purple, because the MK1 battery is already a Tier 2/3 item.
definetly not green, that might suggest GP, which is trash, when it comes to batteries.

Eww. I like the old battery icon better - very easily distinguishable even if not super futuristic.

After reading this thread and thinking 'duh, that's dum', i booted up my latest save.
And then I saw that literally week ago I had nicknamed my specialized batteries factory 'Duracell'.

Welp, looks like they really were onto something...

sadly, I have to play this on a mac for now. unfortunately, the game does not work on MacOS Mojave. It doesnt bother me too much since I will be back on my windows machine very soon, but there are probably others that need it ported.

Weird, no problem at all with 0.16.51 on my Mojave (10.14.1).

MacOS is officially supported, so that's the kind of thing you should post in the bug reports subforum (with the necessary materials)

win 8.1 are technically feature upgrade for windows 8.
Although 8.1 was sold it was also delivered as free upgrade to win8 (trough microsoft store), that brings up some ui changes and some functionality, but inside it's still win 8

I can disagree:
1) different kernel versions (Win 8 is 6.2 and Win 8.1 is 6.3);
2) different compatability ids for manifests.
Also, in-place upgrade from Win 7 and Win 8.1 to Win 10 available. Win 8 must be upgraded to Win 8.1 first.

Okay:
1) You're picking nits and you know it. :D
2) It seems Mojave actually does work fine and the problem is more specific to the person having it.

if you want to nitpick, then get details straight.

Inplace upgrade is not available for Windows 7, only for Windows 7 with SP1 installed (and another KB, that requires SP1 anyways).

Windows 8.1 is Windows 8 with servicepack, whatever you want to think about it.

Mind, unlike Windows 7(with SP1), Windows 8(without 8.1 update) are already out of update cycle (since 1/12/2016), and it's not officialy supported system, except installing 8.1 update on top of it, windows 8.1 will have support until 1/10/2023.

Windows 8 was actually first version provided also in Waas model, but due poor acceptance by audience, they decided to go rather with new version (hence Windows 10, which have also changed internal numbering, instead of continuing in Longhorn numbers eg 6.x, they did "fresh" start with 10.0.x - where x is build, but it's still longhorn anyways)
