So far, update seems pretty great! Seems all my downloaded mods are broken, but I'll give them a few days. Though, I'm playing on a vanilla server with a friend that we set up, and despite the console commands flag being enabled, we can't seem to use commands, such as changing speeds of things, for example. Something about GLS not using the keys. Still though, everything else seems to be working just fine.

I'll leave this here for people with similar issues: I managed to fix my problem. Moved all the old game files to a backup folder, including the files in AppData/Roaming, after which I reinstalled the game: now it boots normally. Apparently something in appdata was messing up the start.
Same for me - after deleting all mods and a complete reinstall (the auto updater from .12 to .13 seems to be broken for the Mac) everything works.
And everything seems to run a lot snappier then before.

is anybody else unable to find the flamethrower turret in their construction menu? I am playing a previous all vanilla save, and the necessary research is completed, but i can't find the flamethrower turret in my construction menu or in the assembly machines ones either.

Really? I joined a multiplayer game and instandly received 11 achievements without doing anything for it?
Achievements should be for singleplayer only I think.

You can't rename stations, as when you click on the box, it closes the dialog box immediately.

in order to unlock the flamethrower turrets in an old world you will have to use the console to remove the research for flame-thrower and then re-add the research

Check the game properties and make sure you didn't change it to download the unstable versions. Set it back to stable to get the current one.

Must select to opt in beta, right click game in steam library, properties, betas, select the beta you would like to opt into, v0.13.0

I had this one too - entire map in worms and spawners.
Managed to find new trick for RSO so it seems to work - no idea what actually changed in the spawning system.

I did try to get RSO published on mod portal and it's there - downloading it from game fails with error so manual installation only.

I built a two-headed train on a brand new track.

The 10-rail placement system fought me several times, I couldn't seem to cancel it without changing the active item in my inventory.

The double-headed train seemed to confuse the rail signal system - it would only let me place signals on one side of the track, preventing me from setting up signals in advance for stations coming later.

I tried to build a land bridge to an island. Sometimes it would use two units of infill to create only one new block of land. I learned to craft them one at a time to get more change/unit.

I loaded an old game that was at the end. I launched the rocket and got the achievement. I did not get the achievement for oil processing - probably it only triggers at the moment oil is researched. Incidentally, this means the first time biters attack a new player they will get a warning because the achievement will popup. Surprise ruined!

Everything else seems fine, and the vertical train station works great. Well done!

my worlds scripts are a little broken, since its been around since the indiegogo, but i used
/c game.player.force.technologies['flame-thrower'].researched=false

followed by

/c game.player.force.technologies['flame-thrower'].researched=true

trying to install any mod from the factorio provided site results in a crash (on a Mac) preluded by that picture.
Even the Piano Mod crashes Factorio

Just crashed after playing for 8 minutes on multiplayer.

Edit: Also, map gen might be a bit spooky if you don't use default settings - often the 4 main resources aren't even all present on the starting view. Here I was trying to use very low frequency, very big size, very high richness, on everything:
2: I also may have stumbled across a bug where if you hit tab at the wrong time during first loading a map and then also escape, the game will only run while the escape menu is up and is paused and unusable after you press "resume."

i set mine to "experimental - Experimental Version" and it keeps mine up to date. Sometimes i have to restart steam in order to get it to find the download immediately, or it might take a few hours to locate the update.
