[0.17.43] Crash on startup (mac, before menu)

Set to latest experimental and downloaded 0.17.43, the game fails to get to the main menu on my mac laptop.

I have no mods (vanilla).

Crash is very sparse, but it looks like the last thing it did was starting to load mod base data-updates.lua.

It's a short crash file, hope it's useful to what is going on.

Mac specs below -- my first guess would be because this has a very small graphics card. Hasn't had an issue with previous versions, though.

Hardware Overview:

Model Name: MacBook
Model Identifier: MacBook9,1
Processor Name: Intel Core m7
Processor Speed: 1.3 GHz
Number of Processors: 1
Total Number of Cores: 2
L2 Cache (per Core): 256 KB
L3 Cache: 4 MB
Memory: 8 GB

Thanks for the report.
Does it still crash in 0.17.54?

If it does, please open Factorio properties in Steam Library and set launch options to

Code: Select all

--no-crash-handler
This will disable our crash handler and allow macOS to handle the crash. Wait for macOS's "crash report dialog" to pop-up, click Report and post the details here. Unfortunatelly the log contains very unhelpful crash trace, so hopefully macOS will generate better crash report.

I have this now but much later, going to re-run with latest version and post a new bug if I get it again!

(Note that now you'll want to try on the latest 0.18 experimental.)
