[0.17.17] Weird gap between items on backed-up belt

Post by Rubydrageon »

Hey,

so basically exactly what the title says, a weird gap appeared between items on my coal belt while it was backed up, as seen in the picture. I don't know what caused this, I just noticed the gap walking by.

The belt was not moving at this point. I also made a save immediately after I discovered this, since the file was pretty big I uploaded it in my personal nextcloud here: https://meinhardt.framfab.de/index.php/ ... YYtWSkSmRp

Since the belt wasn't moving that gap shouldn't have been there. When I did anything to make the items move again the gap closed.

Can you think of any way to reproduce the problem?
Did you have any mods installed or something similar?

As I said, I only discovered it in this state, I don't know how it happened. I had no mods installed whatsoever.
However I noticed that sometimes gaps seem to appear in a backed up belt "randomly", you can kinda see it here briefly on the blue science lane: https://streamable.com/r08az at second ~26.
The quality is low so it's hard to see but maybe it helps? But I don't know if it's even the same problem.

So the bug still seems to exist in 0.17.60. I managed to make a new save copying the setup over where I noticed the bug occurring. The attached save is using the "Creative Mod" mod in version 1.2.0 to provide the items, but I'm sure the bug would still occur without the mod since I observed that in my actual base. Specifically when you load the map you can see small gaps on the belt appearing on the yellow science lane close to the loader.

You can see it in this screenshot:

I hope this helps to reproduce the issue and fix the bug.

Is attention still paid to this? Or is there still some problem reproducing the bug? Just wondering why it's still in Pending.

I am getting something similar happening in my game. I thought I'd reply since this is still in pending.

Notes on my situation:
- Copper plates on blue belt
- It's happening constantly on a mostly-moving belt as opposed to a non-moving belt
- It's actually happening in 2 spots near each other (haven't seen this happen anywhere else in the factory
- Not only is the gap visible, but the in game debug option reveals it as well
- Big world with over 400,000 placed blue belts
- This happens with or without mods
- Factorio version 0.17.74

I will upload a copy of my save file if requested
